Employee Spotlight: Jack Kurtz

2 Min READ

Meet our CEO, Jack Kurtz. As the Founder of Fortuitas, Jack has built an award winning agency that specializes in inbound marketing services, creating custom mobile applications, designing beautiful websites and integrating eCommerce Solutions.

What made you decide to start the company?

I saw that there were many agencies that had good people, but weren't providing the quality or service that clients were expecting. Also, I saw a lot of agencies being dishonest with their clients. Integrity is important to me, and I wanted to offer something different to our clients.

As the CEO and fellow business owner, what advice can you give to another business owner seeking to hire a digital agency?

Make sure the agency is asking you the right questions about your needs before they do anything else. It's also very important that you feel you are able to establish a good connection and rapport with the people who will be working with you. Obviously, you want to make sure that the team has talent and a high level of competence.

What does your typical day look like?

My day is different depending on the day of the week. Mondays are usually focused on new business development. Tuesdays are all about working with the internal project teams to make sure all the projects are on track, the right resources are being provided etc. Wednesdays are spent working with existing clients. Thursdays are focused on finance, and Fridays are all about marketing and strategy. In reality, all of these areas get intertwined every day despite my unrealistic desire to only focus on one thing at a time.

What's your favorite part of your job?

My favorite part of my job is solving business problems and making clients happy. Can I say what my least favorite part of my job is? Finance! Even though I'm pretty good at it, I much prefer to leave the bulk of it to Jennifer, because she's really good at it!

When you aren’t running the Fortuitas empire, what are you most likely to be doing outside of work?

Not sleeping! Coaching my 11 year old son's baseball team, taking my 14 year old son to the skate park, and no longer worrying about my two adult kids (as much). My wife and I take a trip to Cancun every year, and we can't wait to go soon.
